What to do with your old sail

We replaced the sail on our M-22 and sent the old sail shipping paid to Sea Bags of Maine.  For supplying them with material for bags they made us a bag which is shown below.  We love the bag which has the flag that was sewn on to the Luff of the sail and has some very cool rope and splicing work.

I would recommend that if you have an old sail hanging around (we have now done this with multiple sails) that you consider donating it and getting credit toward a bag.  Sea Bags and other bag manufacturers do this (I even have a wallet made from on old sail from resail in Annapolis).

Cheers

Robbin

That's pretty cool! Love the details.

Another option, I believe that Nat Benjamin from Gannon and Benjamin collects old sails and takes them down to Haiti each year and donates them to sailors. They are working on building a marine railway.
