maneuvering a Sanderling into a slip with an outboard motor

Folks,

Recently acquired a Sanderling equipped with a 6hp Yamaha hung off the stern.

This powerplant offers no controls forward near the helmsman's location.

What tips can experienced people offer re.

what to do with the tiller when the captain is back working with the outboard motor

would installing remote controls for the throttle and gear shift greatly reduce

the difficulty of maneuvering the boat into the slip?

am considering replacing the Yamaha with an electric outboard (e.g., the Elco

electric 5hp, which offers remote control of throttle and forward/neutral/reverse

from a location on the boat of one's choice); has someone in the Association

walked this walk and able to offer guidance based on firsthand experience?

Thanks for giving this some attention,

Jim (the new guy on the block)

Late reply but this has a section dealing specifically with tiller and outboard maneuvering into slips. Maybe it will give you some insight?
