Friday, January 25th

10:00am to 4:00pm          Mystic Seaport – Experience the entire Seaport with group rates.

3:00pm to 4:00pm            Mystic Seaport – Shipyard visit including Mayflower II (meet at South Entrance).

6:00pm to 8:00pm            Welcoming Reception & Members’ Slide Show; Nibbles and Cash Bar

8:00pm to Whenever        Explore local restaurants (the hotel can provide a list of local spots)

 

Saturday, January 26th

8:30am to 5:00pm           All Catboat Vendor and Member Boat & Resource Show

Come enjoy a terrific Boat & Resource Show and encourage all members to exhibit.  All exhibitors must register directly with Anne Smith, Exhibit Coordinator.  If you have questions or wish to have a form mailed to you, please contact her directly at anne.smith@catboats.org or 617-308-6628.

 

8:30am to 11:30am        Sideshows - Located here and there in the main corridors

& 3:30pm to 5:00pm       CBA Experts of all stripes stand ready to advise on a number of topics.

9:30am to 11:00am         Yoga (New this year!)- (Conference Room 7)

Gentle Yoga, Meditation and Mindfulness – and some “Cat” stretches.  Instructor-led class for all levels, beginners encouraged.  Please bring your own mat and loose fitting clothes for a mindfulness journey.

 

8:45am to 10:00am         Catboating for Beginners (Salon F)

The Peterson Brothers will demonstrate the basic elements of sailing a catboat.  This workshop is geared to those who are truly new to catboating and wish to learn the ropes.

 

8:45am to 10:00am         Voyaging in a Catboat (Salon E)

Ever dream of sailing over the horizon like the explorers of old?  Brent Putnam hosts a panel of catboat sailors – including prior recipients of the Henry M. Plummer award – who will share their experiences and advise about voyaging long distances in catboats.

 

10:15am to 11:30am       Catboat Racing (Salon F)

From the warning gun to the checkered flag, a crash course to sailing around the race track.  This seminar will cover everything from boat prep to race course management to ensure safe and fun racing for all

10:15pm to 11:30pm       Storyteller’s Workshop (Salon E)

Your CBA Editorial Board hosts this lively discussion about bulletin contributions.  Come meet the CBA Editorial Board and learn how to write, photograph and illustrate your catboat story or adventure.  The annual CBA Editorial Board Award winner will also be honored at this meeting.

Catboat Legends: An exclusive CBA Feature Presentation

What makes a catboat a legendary catboat?  Is it design, popularity, uniqueness, performance or all the above?  Join us as the CBA presents a multi-media exploration of some of our most iconic vessels and their captivating stories as can only be told live by the skippers and crew who experienced them.  Expect to be dazzled by aerial drone footage shot exclusively for this feature presentation… a CBA first!

 

3:15am to 4:30am           Pushing the Limits (Salon F)

Extreme catboat sailors — Tim Fallon, John Conway (and more!)—share advice and stories about epic passages in outrageous conditions.  Bring your questions and comments for a lively discussion.

 

3:15pm to 4:30pm           Diesel Engine Maintenance, Troubleshooting & Care (ACRS Room)

Diesel experts from Old Lyme Marine discuss care and maintenance of small diesel engines.  This is an interactive seminar, so bring your questions and share your own tricks for smooth running with the assembled group.

 

3:15am to 5:00ish           Mystic Walk (Lobby) – weather permitting

Join fellow catboaters for a self-guided 3 mile walk in Bluff Point State Park.  The trail has amazing vistas overlooking Long Island Sound.  Meet in the Lobby for a short van ride to a scenic locale.  Dress appropriately (layers and footwear) for a self-paced peaceful walk.

 

5:00pm to 7:00pm           Sociability Event (More Nibbles and Cash Bar)

 

Sunday, January 27th

 

8:30am to 10:00am               National Coast Guard Museum – our Sunday morning seminar will feature a presentation by the National Coast Guard Museum on some unique patent proposals that have come before the Coast Guard’s Lifesaving Equipment Review Board. (Donuts and coffee served)
