| Came across a reference to them in latest issue of Points East - "American Rope & Tar was established in 1989 as a source for hard to find materials for wooden boat owners" - website at http://www.tarsmell.com/index.html |

Subject: Seeking Competent Boatwright Long Island NY |
| I am interested in restoration of a 17’ Cape Cod Catboat located in Suffolk County, Long Island, NY. It is a Charles Wittholtz design, built by Ted Hermann. I am seeking a competent boatwright, whether amatuer or professional, to assist me. Any references to a capable individual or boatyard in the area would be greatly appreciated. |

Subject: jam cleat on Marshall Sandpiper |
| I have some teenage girls who use my Marshall Sandpiper regularly and managing the sheet tires them. I am wondering if I can put a jam cleat at the after end of the centerboard trunk. It may interfere somewhat with the operation of the centerboard, but it would relieve the tension and make it easier for them to sail, I think. I would also put a pulley on the boom just above the jam cleat. Is this a good solution? |

Subject: Herreschoff sail and cover |
| Hi everyone! I'm the new kid on the block. I purchased a HA18 last year and I'm in love. I've spent a lot of time under her scraping and painting, top sides teak repair and Cetoling. I've just finished rerigging her and now I'm looking at her sail. It's the original as far as I know and is a little stretched out. I'd like to reproduce it if at all possible. I'm also looking for a sail cover as mine does not fit well and has seen better days. I like to get a sense of how much a sail would cost and availabilty. On a side note I'm also working on a tabernacle mast set up for her. Any thoughts?
