2. SOLD:  1996 Marshall Sandpiper, 15 ft.  Original owner.  Open model with white hull, polar blue decks, light blue interior.  Boom tent and sail covers, plus most other extras except trailer.  3 hp Yamaha.  Garage stored.  Perfect condition.  Asking $13,500.  Picture available upon request.  Boat located at 1068H Long Beach Blvd., North Beach, Long Beach Island, NJ 08008.  Home phone (609) 494-3476, or cell (772) 341-8771.  Email:  apollo33@comcast.net  Owner, John Adamiak.

3. SOLD: 1982 18-foot Marshall Sanderling ONTARIO sports her original white hull, a light tan cockpit and light blue topsides.  All exterior teak has a fresh coat of Cetol and looks very good.  Her sail cover and bottom are green and she has a (plastic) red boot stripe.  She is ready for the water, complete with (older) cushions inside and out, potty, (orange) life jackets, anchor and rode, etc.  She comes with two standard size sails (with numbers) made by Doyle Manchester.  The new (reefed) sail is shown in the photo.  The older sail, which is still in good condition, has a large flag attached to the leech.  Both sails have numbers and telltales attached; ONTARIO is also equipped with a masthead wind direction indicator.  The 5 hp 4-stroke Honda engine set on a removable bracket is also shown in the photo.  The motor is in excellent running condition.  I typically sail off and back on to my mooring, so I seldom use the motor.  The boat is essentially stock, but I have replaced several parts in the past six years with better-than-the-original ones.  The bottom has a minimal amount of paint, contrary to most older boats that have thick layers of chipping bottom paint.  Hence, the boat is not weighed down with gallons of bottom paint and the bottom is quite smooth.  ONTARIO has been garaged during the winters (in Dartmouth, MA).  Most people are shocked to learn the boat is 25 years old; she looks almost new and she sails fast.  In fact, she’s won about half the races she entered.  ONTARIO comes with a double axle trailer equipped with new lights.  $15,000.  Contact Steve Warner at ruthewarner@comcast.net

10. FOR SALE: 1940s or 50s era Rhode Island 13'6" Cat. This catboat is a 1950s or 1940s , 13ft. 6in. Cape Cod style catboat, built in RI.. The boat was thought to be built by Edson Schock, but new information indicates there is confusion as to who actually built this boat. The boat was built in the early 40s or 50s on Salt Pond in southern RI. Originally the boat had red Egyptian cotton sails and the cuddy cabin was smaller with no portholes and a rounded front. A builder's plate was on the boat at that time but was lost during cabin overhaul in the 60s. I am the third and present owner, and I purchased the boat in 1980 and sailed her out of Wickford Harbor in RI until we moved to mid Missouri in 1996, and I have been sailing the boat on the Lake of the Ozarks. She is cedar on oak, with a new keel, centerboard trunk, lower transom, deadwood, sister frames, and was re-fastening in 1994. She has a Thurston sail, oak mast hoops, red bronze and brass fittings, cuddy cabin with oval ports, varnished decks cabin and cockpit sides, cedar on oak carvel hull, barn door rudder and a British Seagull motor and trailer. I am currently searching for definitive origins for this boat and any information regarding this early RI catboat would be welcome, and would be added to the historical information on early RI catboats. More detailed information as well as more pictures can be seen on my web site at http://johnmaciver.tripod.com or is available on request. The boat is available and ready for the water at $4,500 . John MacIver, PO Box 653, Stover, MO 65078. (573) 377-2775 or e-mail macivj@wildblue.net.

13. FOR SALE: ca. 1951 Beetle Boat Company “Gull” catboat.  This rare, antique catboat was among the very first production fiberglass sailboats to be built.  In Daniel Spurr’s book Heart of Glass, (pp 53-58) he states, “Although Taylor Winne and Gar Wood Jr. made the first production fiberglass boats - runabouts and dinghies - Greene and Beetle, … were first in sail.”  However, the public’s reluctance to accept fiberglass boats at that time in history eventually led to financial exhaustion and Carl F. Beetle sold the company in 1951.  The boat has a solid fiberglass hull and deck and 3 varnished wooden seats.  The specifications are 10.3 ft. length on deck, 4.3 ft. beam, 13.8 ft. aluminum mast with dumb sheave and new halyard and new snap shackle, 8.2’ ft. aluminum boom with new fittings on each end.  It comes complete with a Marconi sail in very good to excellent condition, 2 new Caviness 6 ft. oars, 2 new bronze oarlocks, daggerboard, daggerboard plug, tiller, rudder, and a sail bag.  The boat has just been refurbished with all major dings and scratches repaired.  The boat has been repainted inside and out, and the seats sanded down to bare wood and varnished.  This boat should be of particular interest to any maritime museum or organization, yacht club, or individual with a serious interest in boat history.  Asking $3,500.  Located Brunswick, Georgia.  Delivery available.  Contact FancyNancysBoatworks@comcast.net or (912) 554-3872.
